WASHINGTON — The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is releasing a comprehensive year-in-review memo that outlines winning campaign tactics in the best midterm year for the party in power since at least 1934 and what these wins mean for Americans. Democrats defied the odds by not losing any state legislative majorities, flipping four key chambers, and creating four new Democratic trifectas this midterm year. From a laser focus on messaging on abortion and the economy to state-of-the-art digital and field programs, the work of the DLCC can act as a roadmap to victory for Democrats at every level of the ballot for cycles to come.

“Like ticking off lofty New Year’s resolutions, this year the DLCC and state Democrats overcame historic odds to orchestrate the best midterm year since before 1934,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “2022 was truly a watershed moment for state Democrats. In states where Democrats held power, lawmakers spent the past year protecting fundamental rights and lowering costs for their constituents, and the American people voted accordingly. Democrats trounced their Republican opponents at the ballot box as well, flipping four chambers and creating four new Democratic trifectas. The DLCC is ready to ride this momentum into 2023, 2024, and the decade to come.”

The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee dedicated to winning America’s state legislatures. This cycle, the committee raised $50 million to elect state Democrats across the country. State legislatures are the building blocks of our democracy and pass the policies that have the biggest impact on Americans’ day-to-day lives.
